Too bad the movie by Oliver Stone stunk.
Dead 3 years later at age 27. Really talented and also the son of an admiral from the Viet Nam years, presumably part of the Laurel Canyon/CIA, drug and destruction, pop entertainment, psyop that succeeded in starting the downward spiral of our culture.
I don’t think we’re supposed to post Getty images on FR my friend.
Here he was a year later on the Smothers Brothers. You can see how professional his operation was with the brass section we know from their music:

(Also had a golden microphone long before Rush L.)
He was more talented than Dennis L.
Rich is still with us
Grace Slick tells a story that once upon a time she and the Starship gang were walking through Amsterdam with the crew from The Doors. Said the Dutch kids were swarming them, most of them wanting to give them some little packet of ... something. She said everybody else was saying a polite "Thank you" and pocketing the whateritwas to check out (and maybe take) later. But not Morrison. He was downing it, right there on the spot, no questions asked. And still managing to walk down the street.
She said she was amazed he lived to 27.
Which is presumably why they officially didn’t perform an autopsy. Supposed alcohol issues, though probably disclosed to cover for the drugs.
Amazing story!
I enjoy the music. Have absolutely no interest in the personal lives of the musicians. Don’t even care to know their individual names. Doors or any other group.
Let the music stand alone.
Saw them in concert in Rochester, NY.
They were AMAZING! Morrison was fantastic. His presence and performance was EPIC!
“The Doors”, the movie, was EXCELLENT. (IS excellent)
I knew his brother in Coronado, he was a normal enough guy.
You think the CIA is what gave us the great 60s music?
In part. Have you not heard or read about the Laurel Canyon story? Do you think pop music would somehow be immune from their infiltration?
I don’t believe the CIA runs the world and always has, which we get a lot of here at FR, almost everything dark and negative on planet earth, past and present is attributed to the Americans and our CIA, by some here, they are almost like gods to some controlling everything and every where.
Not in my book. We can agree to disagree, though.
Okay, so keep your head in the sand.
Yep.
JM was a big fan of Frank Sinatra and certainly had that "smooth, crooner voice" at times.
He also knew FS used a Neumann U47 microphone that used a German Telefunken vacuum tube.
It was THE most transparent mic to clearly capture vocals and still remains a legend in studios and was ecstatic.
When the Doors walked into Sunset Recording Studio, JM immediately saw a Neumann U47 microphone that would be used for his vocals.
Good info that’s new to me... Thanks.
