Iran has elections. The winning candidates are Shiite Muslims, like 90+% of the population. Islam is important to the population. If you run non Muslims, they will lose. Always.
What exactly do people think elections are going to do? They just had one last year. They elected Shiite muslims.
There are factions within the Shiite sect, plus there are Zoroastrians, etc. And then there are secularists and also secular communists.
The problem in Iran isn’t the average Shiite, it is a particular end times sect, which oddly enough gets along with Deodbandis (a wahabbist end times sect) better than it does with fellow Shiites.
