They mean outlaw 30 round magazines which would work as well as outlawing meth and fentanyl. A person who wants to shoot up a school isn’t going to let a law stop them. If a gang-banger gets caught with one, they won’t prosecute them anyway.
In Sweden, gun laws are so restrictive, you can buy a full-auto AK on the street and it comes with a free hand grenade.
Sweden has a population with one of the higher percentage of firearms owners in Europe. And that is legal firearms owners. About 560,000 people have permits out of a population of ten million people.
That does not count Muslims, who hold illegal firearms, of course.
Permits require six months of membership in a hunting club and passing an examination for each type of firearm desired. Each firearm on a permit must have a separate license, with a maximum of sixteen firearms licenses for each permit. Suppressor licenses may be included with the license for each firearm.
Open carry is prohibited. Firearms must be stored and transported unloaded in locked cases with ammunition stored separately. Hunting or target shooting are the legal uses allowed.
Self-defense using a firearm requires the defender to be in a "situation of peril" and act in a manner that is not "blatantly unjustifiable". There is no presumption of innocence, the defender must provide an affirmative declaration of such if prosecuted.
Ammunition may be sold at pet supply stores. The assumption is that you will buy supplies for hunting dogs, which will go with your party, and those supplies may include ammunition for hunting. Ammunition purchase requires presentation of a firearms license.
I did not see any hand grenades in stock.
I have read that Nickolas Cruz, who shot up the Parkland school, used only 10 round magazines.
