I always thought there was a limit. For years I saw people in the grocery checkout tearing tickets out of books. I guess the card replaced those. I don’t see that anymore and it must be because they are swiping cards at the checkout? Now you can’t tell so you don’t see if they’re buying junk with “taxpayer funds” or a debit/credit card. Maybe that was the purpose of changing? Save them the embarrassment?

I think they are restricted, but that puts the cashier in an awkward position. What they need to do is have the price scanner reject the item. That would be a simple software change.
