We could use Mandami’s formula-the government run grocery store. Just rice and beans for those on food stamps. The regular stores shouldn’t accept EBT cards.
I’m glad it’s a Kennedy that’s doing this. It takes the racism charge out of it.
Phone companies. The 6 cents everyone pays for lifeline services for the poor. The poor got 50% off their BASIC monthly bill. That way they could call an ambulance in an emergency.
The extras(call waiting/forwarding) were available for an extra charge. These people couldn’t afford basic phone service but they had money for the extra features. The phone companies role in all this? They were happy to accept the extra money as long as the public subsidized the basic service. Then came the Obamaphone.
HMO-they supported Obamacare. Good for business.
