Put those government stores in poor neighborhoods-more accessible.
Look at hospital food, and they serve it in the cafeteria to the people with medical backgrounds. The complete lack of care, pay, and attention given to the expertise of the people preparing it they serve it to people trying to get well.
This is all anyone needs to know about the expertise, and lack thereof, of people with medical backgrounds running health and human services. A good lawyer, as in RFK Jr, is what’s needed
There’s a meal for a family of 5 in there someplace.
I have zero sympathy for EBT recipients. The program shouldn’t even exist—by rights, the needy should go to the church food bank.
These people should be given the option to pick up a sack of rice and a sack of beans once a month from a warehouse…or not, their choice. Anything further is on them.
“”ALL people should be allowed to choose what to eat.””
Noooo! Nooooooo! Not poor people.... not people at poverty level.... they should not be allowed to choose what they eat. They are beggars, after all and beggars do NOT get to choose! Their “choices” should only be beans, rice, government cheese, water and stale bread ... because... taxpayers are paying for it! And taxpayers are the ONLY citizens whose wishes and opinions really matter, after all. Oh, and muffin bottoms! Those on SNAP should only be allowed to eat the bottoms!!!
(If this seems a bit absurd... this is just how inane most of the twits on these threads sound like to me)
And where does this end? I’ll tell you. The radical leftists get back into power (and they will).... and they will take the RFK Jr. torch precedent... and push it to the max by restricting what “everyone” can or cannot choose to eat. And they’ll say... well the MAGA GOPers did it first. The elitists in power will, of course, continue to consume the food items that they ban for us ‘little people’. It’s how they roll.
Also... RFK Jr. uses hyperbole to describe soda and candy as “poison”. Well, if it’s poison for kids on EBT, then it’s also poison for everyone else, right? So... next step will be to ban soda and candy for everyone else too... if he succeeds in banning it for poverty level folks. And those health monitors he wants everyone to wear.... everyone including the (gasp!) taxpayers. It’s “for the cheeldren”, after all. Do you see how this stuff works?
And for the record... RFK Jr. is still a totalitarian Democrat in my estimation. Most folks are just too dense to “get it”. Just because he gets one or two things/issues right that some on the right agree with (like his stance on vaccines and food dyes used in foods)... doesn’t make ‘him’ right on everything else. Camel nose in the tent stuff here.
YouTube is replete with obese black women protesting the new EBT restrictions. You’d think that someone cut off their oxygen
“...fats...”
This Guy is lovin’ him some butter these days.
Who knew there are apparently distinctions to be made among sources of butter as well?
Recent advice is suggesting at least one ingredient type in domestic butter is not good, UK and European butter including a different type of that same ingredient that is not problematic, and therefore said to be a better choice. Haven’t tried this yet, but just try to tell your local deli/bagel store you’d like the better butter! They probably think like most everybody else—that butter is butter.
Other advice is saying opt for “grass fed” or “grass finished” butter.
Yeesh.
THE ENTIRE PROGRAM NEEDS TO BE CHANGED===AND RECALIBRATED TO SEE WHO IS GETTING SUPPORT THEY SHOULD NOT GET
100% juice may be worse than soda. 95% of our apple juice comes from China. It’s condensed and shipped in big tanks. Water is added when it gets here. It’s hard to find apple juice that is made here or in Canada. All the big names are from China.
“RFK Jr. is still a totalitarian...”
Trump has had quite an effect from n RFK Jr. in this regard.
Probably also on the man’s Hollywood wife. Poor girl! Lol
“Restrictions won’t make a bit of difference.”
Umm, you don’t know that, likely it would be the first time millions of recipients would be getting a hint that junk food is unhealthy.
Either way, I agree that they can spend their money however they like. Food stamps are not their money, it’s from taxpayers. It should go much farther on restrictions - Only rice, beans, vegetables, unsweetened dairy, chicken, fish and ground beef would be my policy.
“ALL people should be allowed to choose what to eat.”
When someone else is paying, they choose.
No wonder we have a nation full of lard asses. And all the heart problems and diabetes that goes along with obesity.
Who owns the most Coca Cola stock?
Berkshire Hathaway 9.2%
Vanguard 8.5%
BlackRock 7.2%
Take the King’s Coin, do the King’s Bidding.
Would you like to shop at a grocery store that has a 'No Sugar' section where you can start your shopping?
Mexican law requires food containers to indicate excesses:
EXCESO CALORIAS
EXCESO AZUCARES
EXCESO GRASAS SATURADAS
EXCESO GRASAS TRANS
EXCESO SODIO

Any food product that would have to be so labeled if offered for sale in Mexico should not be SNAP or WIC eligible.
“”His policies may be good but he is a dirty evil Kennedy.””
Which is why it is so astounding to me that so many MAGA “Conservatives” are supporting what this putz does and wants to do, no questions asked. It’s bizarre. He wants every American (hint: not just kids on SNAP) to wear a trackable health monitor. Get it? He’s exactly what you said.
The Government already dictates what our children should eat with their breakfast and lunch school programs.
To be fair, supermarkets and retail establishments that are geographically available options for them are probably mostly thinly-disguised distribution centers for processed foods chock-full of high glycemic index carbohydrates, effectively indistinguishable from candy.
In other words, just another example of why the parents you describe are living in an horrendous food desert. In that, these retailers are really pushing, or hawking, junk food. Non-food, really. Real food may not be attractive to such retailers from a sales perspective. Expensive to source and stock, and unprofitable to sell. But it’s what we all need!
