The above is the only album I know of on the list.

My opinion, The Knack's first album(1979) is the true one hit album wonder, every song was great.

Have fun it's friday.

The Las is a great choice for this. The first few songs are just killer.

Big fan of Derek and the Dominos. It came out at about the same time as School’s Out. Used to hear School’s Out and Layla played very often on AM radio back in the day.

Derek and the Dominoes ONLY because Eric Clapton only did one album with them. That group was basically Clapton.

3) Derek and The Dominos

And the click farmer pontificated:

The album that spawned the gigantic hit Layla. The album didn’t produce any other hits

Horsehocky.

One case where the band kept the name, but it was a profoundly different band was Pink Floyd. The first album was largely the work of Syd Barrett. I’m not much of a fan, even though I’m a huge fan even of “the wilderness years” (I’ll explain). Syd was lead guitarist, lead vocalist and primary songwriter. They created a couple Beatles-like, catchy pop tunes (Arnold Layne, See Emily Play), but when they got their record contract, the songs Syd chose were just pain wierd and pretty terrible. (The Gnome, Flaming, Bike, Matilda Mother, etc.; although I kinda like Lucifer Sam, a silly song about how naughty his cat is.) Syd went crazy and killed any hope of the U.S. catching onto their work by staring at the camera doing nothing for their big, live TV introduction.

Singles Attempting to imitate Syd were disastrous (Paint Box, Point Me at the Sky). They spent several albums trying to find who they were, and gave up trying to write pop songs and instead pretty much deconstructed and rebuilt their understanding of songwriting from the ground up. Several successive albums hit #1 before they were introduced to the American audience again, just as they nailed their sound and perfected their songwriting.

But the band they became bore little resemblance to Syd’s.

Although not nearly up to the power of any of the Led Zeppelin studio albums, Coverdale/Page would make the list in my book. Easily Jimmy’s best work post Zeppelin. Mudcrutch, with Tom Petty reuniting with his pre-Heartbreakers group, was also a very good album.
This list is from 2013. I guess I’m not familiar enough with more recent music to add anything more contemporary. Anyone have a suggestion?

Derek and the Dominoes In Concert is one of the few albums that rivals the Allman Brothers Live at the Fillmore, IMHO:

One could say Blind Faith too…. Clapton and Steve Winwood and… one album and one album only.

Even though they had a few albums after the debut, The Spin Doctors Pocketful of Kryptonite is fantastic, but they didn’t chart with anything after that.

Lazy article. No one associates a one hit wonder with a group that put out one LP. A group that had one hit song amongst a larger body of work / multiple LP’s YES.

Derek and the Dominoes should not have been on the list. If this clown writer thinks so I guess he missed. Blind Faith, Mad Season, Lauren Hill, Sex Pistols. Jeff Buckley.......

“Derek and The Dominos” was only meant to be a 1 album deal when Eric briefly became “Derek”.

I saw “Derek” when Santana was the opening act.

After the “Dominos” took stage, “Derek” came out, slung his guitar over his shoulder, played a few notes...then wailed into the beginning of “Layla”.

It was an awesome moment!

Huey Lewis and the News - Sports
Hootie and the Blowfish - Cracked Rear View

I can’t think of any songs that came after their big mega-albums.
