The Islamic Assembly of North America, with offices in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti Township, has not been charged with any crime. But federal officials say the group operated a Web sitethat called for suicide bombings and flying airplanes into buildings.
The charity cropped up in two criminal cases announced Wednesday. In one case, a graduate student from the University of Idaho was indicted on federal charges of misleading immigrationauthorities on his visa application. The student allegedly administered a Web site promoting suicide bombings. The Arabic-language Web site he administered was part of the main Islamic Assembly site, according the government.
