Rhode Island prosecutor in viral arrest video placed on unpaid leave, job future unclear

The Rhode Island assistant attorney general whose arrest went viral earlier this week after she seemingly tried to use her position to evade arrest, telling officers they'd "regret" putting her behind bars, will be placed on unpaid leave.

Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan, who was arrested for trespassing, was placed on paid leave after the incident while the Rhode Island Attorney General's office reviewed the matter. Starting Monday, Flanagan will go on unpaid leave, the office told Fox News Digital.

It is unclear how long Flanagan will remain on unpaid leave until a final determination is made on her employment. The attorney general's office did not respond to additional questions about its ongoing review of the matter or when it might make a final decision.

State payroll records, according to the Boston Globe, show that Flanagan was making about $113,000 a year in her position as a special assistant attorney general.

"I'm an AG! I'm an AG!" Flanagan told police as they tried to detain her for failing to comply with their demands. "You're going to regret this. You're going to regret it. I'm an A-" Flanagan said as she was escorted to the back of a police car and the door was shut.

"Good for you, I don't give a s---," one of the arresting officers said at one point.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

"You're going to regret this", she said to the officer.

UNpaid leave. YES!

Does the RI AG's office have an "unpaid parking ticket enforcement" division?
If so, that's where she's headed, if she still has a job at all.

“It’s just really hard to find and keep capable lawyers, and so I just have to think really carefully about this one. But no question there will be a strong, strong sanction here.” Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha added.

Already laying the ground work for bringing her back......I’m afraid she’s not going anywhere.

My prediction: counseling plus a 6 month suspension (unpaid). Plus a warning that one more screwup will result in termination.

It’ll be something like that....but I’m sure termination isn’t being considered.

Hahahahahahahahahaha! I love in the video where they put her in the car as she is screaming "You're going to regret it. I'm an AG! I'm an..." SLAM as the door cuts her off in mid sentence!

I also liked the look on the other woman's face when the arresting cop says "that's bulls**t lawyer stuff..."

ASSISTANT DA: You're not going to arrest us. Okay, I know you don't want to deal with it, and your protocol is, but when I ask you to turn off the body cam, you have to turn it off. And that's your protocol.

WOMAN IN WHITE DRESS: She's a f***ing lawyer, so she knows.

ARRESTING COP: Well, that's bulls**t lawyer stuff, so that's not true. So, we gotta go. (Assistant's face changes hilariously goes through three rapid changes from smug smile, to puzzlement, to the realization that this cop is simply not going to let them go because the other woman is a DA...see her face below on the right)

WOMAN IN WHITE DRESS: (protesting) No! It is! That's the law. What she's saying.

ASSISTANT DA: I'm an AG! I'm an AG!

ARRESTING COP: Good for you. I don't give a sh**. We're going. Let's go. We're leaving. Can you get your children out of here?

WOMAN IN WHITE DRESS: Ex...excuse me. I'm sorry, what? Please don't put your hands on us.

Granted, I wish it were dismissal, not unpaid leave, but this is a good start.

Of all the things that seem to be almost wholly the sole domain of abusive, power-mad Leftists, the "Don't you know who I am? admonition is the one that irritates me the most, but also provides me with the most enjoyment when they DO get arrested and lose their job in the end, so that is what I am rooting for.

To this day I have not found out what her original crime was. I assume she was being drunk and obnoxious and asked to leave. But I would like more details on the drunk and obnoxious part that occurred before the police arrived.

They must really dislike her... Typically when it comes to judicial officials, police, Etc... They always get suspended with ‘paid’ leave, not ‘unpaid’ leave.

And then they get that ‘paid’ leave for years while the authorities come up with enough evidence to fire them with cause.

Given her ‘hotness’... I would’ve come up with another arrangement to make these charges ‘go away’.

Well, as we have been repeatedly told, no one is above the law.
