“Three major refineries were forced to close production...”
Califonia dreaming
I had to wait days in the late ‘70s in America.
also 1970s nostalgia
Yep. California will feel the pain come April 2026. The midterms will be very interesting.
Not exactly a “mushroom cloud.”
Thanks. I was going to point that out. Not to mention gas in this country was strictly rationed in WWII, starting in 1942.
50 years ago a friend of mine worked at SAC headquarters with the job of determining which targets would do the most damage to Russia if bombed. I don’t know if this is still true, but Russian production then was based on “One Big Plant” for everything they produced. Most of their oil refining capacity back then was concentrated in central Russia making the bombers back then having to penetrate deep into Soviet territory before reaching their target. Today’s technology makes this approach very susceptible to drone attacks because of this “concentration” philosophy. I think Putin is between a rock and a hard place.

1) Russia's government, problem. Russian consumers, impacted.
2) Don't care, and just filled my lovely old diesel truck yesterday on a lovely summer's day.
Similarly,
"The average price per gallon in the Golden State is now $4.84, according to AAA*. That is up five cents from last week and nearly 40 cents from last month. The average price of gas nationally is about $3.16. All nine Bay Area counties — except for Solano ($4.96) — are averaging above the $5 mark. The highest average price is located in Sonoma ($5.22)."Depending on one's perspective, this report can be seen in various ways.CA gas prices highest in nation, Bay Area averaging $5-plus per gallon KRON 4, The Bay Area's Local News Station, Feb 20, 2025

2) Don't care, and just filled my lovely old gasoline sedan today. At half the price of those wacky Californians.
As to John Varga's London, gas prices there in USD are about three times the price I paid these last two days.
As to the EU and Ukraine? About three times what I paid too.
And I still don't care. Please don't move here.

What has surprsied me is how much war production is done very close to the Ukrianian border.
Easy pickins.
Oh no!!!
This poster sees Putin as being humiliated just about every day now. Putin must be groveling in the dirt by now.
ZEEPER FOLLIES PINGLIST!(((PING!)))
Putin was supposed to conquer Kyiv in 3 days.
It really makes the zeepers hop around in glee!
Numbers.
Russia consumes 3.6 million barrels of oil / day.
Prewar refinery capacity was 5.6 million barrels of oil/day
If 11% has been cut, that would about 0.6 million barrels lost, leaving 5 million bpd of capacity (before repairs), and 1.4 million bpd in excess of domestic consumption.
Article suspect, unless they went out and found some specific locale with local scarcity.
Now you’re channeling Pee-Wee Herman.
