One of the reasons for the British entry into WWI was their guarantee of Belgian neutrality after the Napoleonic Wars, so maybe the British should have not gotten involved in that. Or let's go back to the Hundred Years War. Especially after the atrocities the Belgians committed in The Congo.
Brits needed “Brexit” in 1914. Make a deal with the Germans to let them have the continent, while Britain has their Empire. Would have saved the world a lot of grief.
