A 76-year-old retiree from New Jersey met a tragic end while trying to meet up with a flirty Kendall Jenner lookalike called 'Big sis Billie' - without realizing she was an AI chatbot.
Thongbue Wongbandue packed a bag and made a desperate bid to go to the New York apartment of a woman he had been chatting with online back in March. As he rushed into the city the retiree fell and hurt his head and neck in the parking lot of a Rutgers University campus in New Jersey at around 9.15pm.

'My address is: 123 Main Street, Apartment 404 NYC And the door code is: BILLIE4U. Should I expect a kiss when you arrive?,' the bot wrote to the Thailand native
I don't see how that has anything to do with AI, chatbot, or anything else.
This looks like a misleading headline and clickbait.
I agree.
Lying headline. But what actually lured him? Who was using the chatbot to lure the man and rob or kill the man? What was waiting for him at the apartment? I doubt it was just a kiss and some hugs.
Maybe if a “person” has to assure you they are really human, they are probably lying.
How is this AI’s fault? Anyone could have been in a chat session with this guy with the same outcome. He’s not a child, apparently was not assigned a guardian and was considered competent in the eyes of the law to go to NYC by himself.
I cannot fathom how so many people fall for someone rich and good looking showing interest in them.
Article also says he was married. Sounds like karma IMO.
Nothing, not even the apartment. The address it gave him was “123 Main St Apartment 404 NYC”. The “404” is a clue right there (Page Not Found).
Good point.
We need a way to tell if we’re talking to a person, or a bot.
Posted before.
Really, he wasn’t “lured to his death”
He simply fell in a parking lot well before he went to go meet this fake woman.
He could have done the same thing going to the store.
The weird scam didn’t contribute really, he just fell on his own.
Yeah mHe could have seen there was a sale on shrimp so he rushed to the market.
If he fell on the way did the market lure him to his death?
People aren’t going to click “old guy falls going to the market.”

For those of us born in the 1960’s 404 is equivalent to
1313 Mocking Bird Ln.
Also “123 main street”....
Easy ..never try and have a real relationship through ANY surrogate means...i.e telephone, letters, computer,...gotta’ find a real bona fide person doing what they actually do..does limit the “choices” but at least they will be real...
IMHO
