I’ve been watching this event from my Western Uinta back yard for 4 nights.
First morning I got view of Venus and Jupiter as orange stars rising over the mountains. There was a little smoke from a fire nearby but saw some serious brightness from both planets. Jupiter of to the lower left side of Venus.
2nd morning was a few clouds but I got a glimpse of the closest conjunction - spectacular! Jupiter still to the left of Venus.
3rd morning - clear and Jupiter straight above Venus. So amazing!
4th night - heavy cloud cover. Even the moon obscured.
Im’a goin’ buy me a telescope.
If you do, do some research before first. No pun intended, but the sky’s the limit as to what you could spend. It’s a very deep rabbit hole you’ll be going down.
My advice- go to this website- https://www.cloudynights.com/
It doesn’t have to be expensive to get started in astronomy. You can download and print out free star charts, and an inexpensive pair of binoculars will do just fine for learning your way around the sky. 🔭
