“Maybe thirty years ago, a scientist predicted a catastrophic quake on the New Madrid fault, and gave the date it was going to happen.”

Over the years, I’ve read a bit about the New Madrid Zone. If the next one is any bit like the 1811-1812 quakes, the damage will be beyond epic.

Besides damage to cities and villages, rail, water and road transport will be seriously disrupted. Energy infrastructure (power lines, gas lines, etc) will be disrupted.

Even the areas that didn’t actually feel the quake will be seriously affected.

Yikes...

Yep. It was bad enough when very few people lived there.
