We probably wouldn’t have said that in 1960 but now there is a lot of evidence.
In the recently assembled book On the Demonic by Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen (a book he said in 1974 he wanted to complete) he points out the way Satan influences leaders.
His book Communism and the Conscience of the West (1948) also refers to the evil in that political force.
Synopsis:
In On the Demonic, Sheen addresses the history of the demonic, how the devil manifested himself to Our Lord, how he has worked throughout the Church’s history, and how the Anti-Christ will come in the end times.
Though Sheen is not optimistic about world history, he is most optimistic about Jesus’ final victory: “There is one thing we do know. If Christ wins, we win!“

Thousands of years ago our ancestors had contact with interdimensional beings. Like humans, some were nice, some were horrid. They labeled the nice ones angels and the nasty ones demons.
The problem today is that religious people balk at calling demons interdimensional beings and the non-religious people think angels and demons are superstitious hokum.
These interdimensional beings...where they come from, they may all look like Bigfoot. Would explain a lot.

I was going to mention the same. Since the beginning there have been both good and evil. You cannot have evil without the opposite to gauge what is evil or not. There is always dark or light, up or down, left or right, evil or good. You cannot have one without the opposite other. The Bible explains this quite well. There are the fallen ones, the Nephilim, the Demons, the Dragons... And then there are the Watchers, The Shining ones, Angels, Cherubim, Seraphim, Dominions, Archangels...
The Watchers and Shining ones are extremely interesting. They are not here to watch us and keep an eye on us... They are here to watch out for us and protect us from others out there who may come and harm us. They are protectors...
