Some of us remember the history behind this political practice, starting with the governor of Massachusetts, Elbridge Gerry. Democratic-Republicans want to shore up their new power in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

According to my history book, the Democratic-Republican party, under Andrew Jackson, changed their name to the Democrat party. Democrats have been gerrymandering since about 1812.

Gerrymandering is as old as the Republic.

The new thing is politicians being self-righteous about it.
