There is such a thing as common decency

Respectfully that’s not really true. There is no such thing as common sense or common decency, we are all unique and as such have different standards and while the differences might be VERY slight they are there.

Having the local government impose some sort of restriction or ruling would hopefully get challenged in court and tossed on 1A grounds. Remember it’s the speech YOU don’t like that needs to be protected.

Banning "vulgarity"?

Like a sodomite flag or a Communist banner such as Black Lives MatterTM? How about Che Guevara t-shirts? How about "Defund the Police"?

The First Amendment regulates only the Federal government.

If I happen to be wearing my heart on my sleeve, however unwittingly, and nobody else notices then my shirt is just a shirt.

The First Amendment was misinterpreted, and should be restored. It protects the citizen against government reaction to speech criticizing the government. It does not force the government to support vulgarity.

Who cares? I mean it shouldn't be a government problem, it should be done by the store owners. However, if it is a moneymaker, and since they are displaying them it must be, the town shouldn't tell private companies what to sell.

I saw something on Amazon a few days ago. Glow in the Dark boxers for kids. Who needs them? I'll never buy them, but it must sell since it is available. I won't tell the government to ban it.

“Virginia is for Lovers” You know, I’ve never understood what the heck that’s even supposed to mean.

Try living in NY with the "I Love NY" slogan...really, I doubt anyone loves NY.

I took this account of the April 2012 attack on two white reporters (for the Virginian-Pilot newspaper in Norfolk) in Portsmouth (adjacent to Virginia Beach) by a mob of approximately 100 blacks from an NBC web page. They were not on duty, but seeing a concert together:
"...Washington and a police report obtained by NBC station WAVY indicate the reporters were driving away after attending a rock concert at the Attucks Theater. When they stopped at a red light among a crowd of about 100 people, Rostami locked her car door. Someone threw a rock at her window.

Forster stepped from the car to confront the rock thrower but was punched by him and several other black males, the police report says. When Rostami tried to reach over the driver’s seat and pull Forster back into the car, she was struck in the head, cheek and eye areas by a black assailant standing outside the car, the police report says.

After the pair managed to lock themselves in the car, the crowd thinned and Rostami called 911, police reports said.

Virginian-Pilot hilariously claims black mob beating was not a news story, I recall because the two reporters were woke, and didn't want to have the incident branded as a racial incident even though it was clearly a racial incident. I believe that only one juvenile was charged and got probation! Out of 100 people in the mob, only that "juvenile" was even charged.

I read statistics that point out that the media is 90% (or greater) populated by Leftists. I believe it.

If you don’t like the t shirt, don’t buy it. If the store owner doesn’t like it, don’t sell it but keep GOVERNMENT out of it, please!

I agree. That slogan has been used since the late 1960s. In recent years, the slogan has been emblazoned in red and black and placed at entrances to the state and other locations. My history and says it looks like advertisements for an adult bookstore. It’s a slogan that needs to be retired.

I have seen this slogan since a child. Virginia is for Lovers.

Juxtaposed against:

"Maryland is for CRABS"

lol

Wonder what the flammability rating is for those? Distributors have had to crack down on some children's clothing, especially pajamas, that ignite easily.

This issue has been coming up for decades. Certain New Jersey beaches got very permissive in terms of what they sold in the 1980s and then pulled back to become more family friendly when families started staying away. Its a never-ending cycle at a lot of these beaches.
