I was watching an old Jimmy Stewart movie, “Broken Arrow,” about Cochise. When the Apaches are deciding on a peace treaty, Geronimo complains that they won’t be able to raid people for guns and food the way they always have, that becoming ranchers would be embarrassing. Whether or not that’s how Apaches thought I don’t know, but it’s evidently the way a large collection of “teens” think, that stealing is honorable and working for a living is embarrassing.

Absolutely. Working for a living in the white man's world is selling out—becoming an Uncle Tom.

Being a criminal is entrepreneurial and honorably rebellious against whitey.
