Jimmy Kimmel admits 'repulsive' liberal scolds are driving people away from the Democratic Party

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel admitted "repulsive" liberal voices are scaring people away from the Democratic Party during an appearance on the "Sarah Silverman Podcast" on Thursday.

The comedians discussed cancel culture persisting on the left since President Donald Trump returned to office. They criticized those who continue to shun Trump voters who are now expressing regret for supporting the president.

Silverman brought up how podcast host Joe Rogan has been attacked online for criticizing Trump's second term after supporting him in the 2024 election. She called it "ironic" that the party of "inclusivity" was "incredibly elitist."

Anti-Trump Kimmel, who campaigned for Democrats in the 2024 election, defended his party while agreeing that some progressive figures have turned people away.

"Yes. But it's not- it's not the party. It's not the majority. It's the loud voices that scare people from saying what they believe and make you think twice about a joke or whatever," he responded.

"You know, a lot of their points are valid, but a lot of them are also just repulsive, in that they repel people," Kimmel continued. "They go like, 'Oh, you're no fun. I don't want to be around you.' And I think that if you had to boil it down to one thing, that's kind of what it is."

"Trump voters who are now expressing regret for supporting the president."

I think that is a very small group.

Pretty much a fictional group. They show up on X all the time, but by the language they use, you know they are leftist paid actors.

Some will use the term “Democratic” to indicate style or intensity of purpose, meaning
a proposed bill can appear “Democrat-ISH”,
a bill that shows what a typical Democrat would do or want to do.

There is no direct equivalent form Republicans.
The closest would be the terms “RINO”, Uniparty or
GOPe = Grand Old Party (establishment)

Kimmel better tread lightly here. His sword of Damocles, aka “The Man Show”, still hangs.

Or maybe it’s because Dems are really communists who hate America?

No “maybe” about it.

“expressing regret for supporting the president.”

The reality is that both Trump and Trump voters are complex.

We agree on what we think is important, which makes us Trump voters. We disagree on something less important..at the time.

Many pro-life voters go to church with illegals. They work, eat and live beside illegals. They favor deporting DUI drives, the Drunk & Disorderly.... but not the family sitting beside them in church.

They agree with Trump on foreign policy, DOGE, and many other issues. But their (our) loyalty is questioned by those who don’t realize Trump is a coalition...not a single tone choir.

There are a suprising number of people who take one position, then recoil from it once it starts being implemented as advertised. I have never understood that.

He LITERALLY said he was going to deport ALL illegals.

And right there is the problem with Trump's penchant for bombast. Or as he calls it, "truthful hyperbole". I've read on FR many, many times that we shouldn't take his statements and promises literally. He didn't really mean that the wall was going to be 30 feet high and paid for by Mexico. He didn't really mean that he was going to build government-planned "15 minute cities" in our national parks.

Well, maybe Rogan though that when Trump said "I'm going to deport every single illegal", that was just bravado, and what he was really saying was just "I'm going to tighten the border and deport all the bad people.

Can't really fault someone for not taking Trump literally when we are repeatedly told that taking him literally is to misunderstand what he is saying.

He is the poster boy for liberal scolds.

And he forgot to add the word “hypocritical” in front of “liberal scolds”

Here is a guy who built his career on “the Man Show” a politically incorrect show that was funny but would have been a cancel culture feast if it were tried today. And today, Jimmy Kimmel is a General in the cancel culture Army.

Then, he takes his talking directly points from Chuck Schumer. I remember when he cried on TV about repealing Obamacare. He was bitterly complaining that he would not be able to afford healthcare for his daughter. Ya, guy gets paid more for one show than most will make in a lifetime and he can’t afford healthcare.

He was Adam Carolla's sidekick on the Man Show.
