Yikes! The mail.
We need to renew Passports, either by mail or online, and I don’t trust either one. When we got them originally we did the paperwork at a Post Office, but you can’t do that now.
USPS ... sigh.
Where there are concentrations of these types of thefts, that’s where the investigations should concentrate. Most mail with checks go thru fine in the large numbers that they do. I think I read the same post from the man who said he had had multiple checks intercepted. One poster spoke of his bank refusing to honor a check of his that had been stolen...then “washed” but it was obvious to the bank so they didn’t honor it. The check had been intercepted thru the post office somehow.
THis clown in the story had filmed himself flashing cash so he was a stupid crook, easily discovered. I have to wonder how many others where he had worked were doing the same and now are living in fear that they too will be found out then sent to prison.
The days of mailing checks in the mail are over. I had one ; checked washed from NC Dept of Revenue for $450..changed to Joe Blow for $5450. Such a bad job the bank wouldn’t cash it BUT… now they got the routing code / account number off the check. It wax an inside the USPS job; certain addressees scream a check inside. I’m down to ZERO checks. Don’t do it !!
> And somehow all these check recipients never noticed their checks were cashed by someone else? <
I’m guessing the victims reported their missing checks and were told, “Thank you for reporting this. We’ll look into it.”
Then nothing was done.
KTLA left a bit out.
Per the above, in the next to last paragraph, a loaded “ghost gun” was also found in her apartment.
I’m thinking there’s a lot more to this story.
