German economy in free fall
American Thinker ^ | 9 Aug, 2025 | Thomas Kolbe

The German economy is sinking far deeper into recession than previously thought. Recent revisions to the national accounts by the Federal Statistical Office paint a dramatic picture.

Quietly and without fanfare, the Federal Statistical Office released new data this week on Germany’s economic output. And, as expected, the figures were revised downward. Instead of shrinking by 0.2% in 2023 as initially reported, Germany’s GDP actually contracted by 0.9%. The outlook for 2024 has also worsened: a projected contraction of 0.5% instead of the previously assumed stagnation.

Three Years of Ongoing Recession

Anyone who still clung to the illusion of stability must now face reality. Germany is stuck deep in its third consecutive year of recession -- and there's no way out in sight. The downturn is deeper than previously assumed, with far-reaching consequences that politicians and media had downplayed.

It’s not unusual for macroeconomic data -- such as GDP, unemployment, or inflation -- to be revised retroactively. These figures are highly aggregated and often based on estimates and projections. It would therefore be unfair to accuse former Economy Minister Robert Habeck (Green Party) of falsifying these numbers. For one, the Ministry of Economic Affairs isn’t the only institution massaging data to suit political interests.

Just think of Germany’s labor market figures, which have been grossly distorted by early retirement schemes, job creation programs, and other manipulations -- rendering them practically meaningless.

Central Planning and Climate Ideology

Still, there is no question that Habeck’s policy approach has inflicted severe damage. His economic policy strictly followed the Green Deal line, aiming to transform fundamental pillars of the German and European economy. At the heart of this centrally planned transformation was the energy sector -- once the engine of German industry. The explosion in energy prices is the ultimate proof

Everything nosedived economically in Germany when we took out their pipeline...

It wasn't "we" in that it was U.S. operators acting at the behest of their globalist masters, not us, but yeah, no surprise that their energy costs skyrocket when they don't have a pipeline anymore.

They started the idiotic green lunacy, and then we blew up the Nordstream gas line and ended their endless supply of cheap gas.

And there is some weird quirk in German/EU law. Even if they won 80% of the vote, the entire election would be voided because someone in Russia said something about the election on Twitter or TikTok.

Even if you win, you aren’t allowed to take office.

The Germans have just thrown up their hands and surrendered their country to the thieving “miggies”. I always thought they were tougher than this. The worm has turned on the global communists’ forced immigration scheme. Thieving “Miggies” are being sent back to where they crawled out of by every country they invaded. “Miggies and their “unaccompanied” spawn are the weapons communists used to start taking over non-communist countries.

The one thing the German’s are extremely good at...building combustion engines and cars.

So, of course, change the national policy to require EV sales and compete directly with China. All while moving to ‘green energy’ and making it all more expensive.

Frikken genius.

IMO, too many German alpha make died in WW2 or died in the postwar USSR slave labor camps.
Two generations later, that alpha male DNA was diluted to soy-boy DNA.

Germany is governed by enviormental leftists. They at their core view human productive activity and the pursuit of happiness as detriminental and harmful to the enviorment, which is their god and the focus of their mysticism. They also consider white people the most productive and therefore the biggest threat to their god.

They shut down the nuclear power plants. I am retired now but my chemical company needs a lot of electricity to start with the basic building blocks of our basic feedstock, and then convert to larger, more useful polymers. This has now been outsourced to China. Let them steal your technology.

Actually, somebody took out RUSSIA’s pipeline — to force the Germans to buy expensive liquefied natural gas, much of which is produced in the USA.

Technically true, but if the talks go well in Alaska, Trump may finally admit it was us.

I recall evidence pointing to Poland; but Trump had been pressuring Europeans to substitute our expensive LNG for cheap Russian gas by pipeline.

Even if they saw sense now, booted out the millions of Muslim and African freeloading criminals they let in and committed to rebuild their coal and nuclear power plants and get rid of all other Gaia Worship legislation and get rid of the socialism......it would be years and years before they could straighten out the mess.
