Service Merchandise had a business model where you shopped at the front of the store using catalogs. You paid for what you wanted. Then the merchandise was handed to you from the back.

If stores are to survive in certain areas they might have to adopt that model.

But I suppose that would be racist. So better to have no stores at all.

yeas. Service Merchandise was a great retail chain. Convenient, well organized, good selection of offerings.
Unfortunately, not around anymore. Like most of a better things.
