The old men and the institutions were all turning America far left during the 60s and 70s, and even earlier, the media has convinced America that it was a ground swell of the children and teenagers, which common sense should inform people how absurd that is, even if they don’t know about government and universities of post war America and the FDR years.
Post WWII we put “under God” in the pledge of allegiance.
We put “In God we trust on our money”. Why? Not because we suddenly became a Godly nation. We did it because the majority of both Dems and Pubbies agreed that the US should not become a Nazi Germany or Communist Russia where the STATE was the GOD.
The next generation was the LBJ-Nixon era. LBJ’s war on Vietnam and War on Poverty/Medicare/Medicaid/Federal control of previous State welfare programs.
Nixon continued that direction. The Feds could print money and borrow with no real limit. The Feds turned the states into whores of the Feds.
I just came from GA Medicaid IT. Independent of whether one thinks Medicaid is a good or bad idea, the states are whores for Medicaid money. HHS says “spread your legs.” “The states respond “How wide?” “Would you like fries with that?”
Most things from Reagan to Biden have been trying to figure out how to adjust to that direction set by LBJ-NIXON.
Now Trump is trying what Reagan-Biden never tried.
