“The problem is people believe them when they say that is what it is for.”
True that. But government malfeasance and incompetence is a different matter.
Just look at the $33 BILLION pissed away in California supposedly to build a train from Visalia to Bakersfield (two end-points with zero need for a train linking those two small and medium sized cities)
Pristine western lakes full of natural trout USED to be good. But now people have gotten used to the invasive trash fish and call them “sport fish” to justify ruining the natural lakes.
Surfboards and rubber rafts next?
The corrupt liars running government were hoping you'd say that. Wait until it gets up to $40...and more.
Oregon required a free invasive species permit just to show you were aware of the issue and that you read a short form that basically said you know to empty the bilges and wash the outside of the boat between outings. This new tax, sorry fee, is purely to cash in on the paddle board craze and parking permits in the Cascades, especially Bend. There are zero improvements anywhere. No new parking, no new bathrooms, no new parks. It is to fund Portland and Salem homeless and illegal alien services and nothing more.
I wasn’t planning to go to Oregon anyway. I guess it used to be a very nice state to visit with several attractive features, but maybe everything now has gone mickeymouse. I wouldn’t go there even to visit on a bet now. My granddaughter once made a statement about wanting to move there to pursue a career, but I believe she has now changed her mind.
I believe that when you die, you enter into a new & different life, but some are not going to like the life that they have inadvertently chose for themselves. The Bible says “you must be born again”.
They could hand out pamphlets at the waterway and not charge money. It is solely a money grab disguised as something for public benefit.
Government malfeasance is the matter. Oregon is going broke from failed democrat policy. Every aspect of of the state is seeing an increase or new fees and taxes. Billion plus for illegals alone. Public pension has been a time bomb mentioned for years. They are increasing fees and reducing services. I wouldn’t doubt they cut measures for invasive species control.
The Oregon food bank went political and is laundering money to side projects other than just food.
Boat fees are just a very small, visible part of of a great government scam.
This short list seems a bit odd. Lots of other conveyances that float are missing like surfboards canoes etc. Maybe they're already taxed. Anyway good thing Huck and Jim never floated down one of Oregon's rivers.
Are you trying to tell me migrating water fowl are not a vector for invasive species? Birds of prey? Predatory mammals? Large herbivores?
Laws of liberals are not always rational.

Being a client of SNAP has many benefits that often go unnoticed. You can purchase tickets to museums and cultural events at a discount, buy MBTA tickets at a lower fare, and more.
Oh, come on! You REALLY think those vectors are worse than invasive species stuck to watercraft?
“Hey kid! You got a permit for that inner tube?”
THE 70’s druggie hippies are still wrong.
yes
Those lakes would have fallen victim to the tragedy of the commons, regardless. I have little regard for what passes for anglers in the local area. Powerbait soaking dipshits.
Oregon taxes rain. I’m not kidding.
They did in the 60s. As a kid we had to gave a bicycle “tag”.
