I think we define Socialism differently. I think yours is wrong.

Conservatives from 1933 to 1964 would disagree with you. They defined the New Deal as socialism.

After Goldwater was defeated, most conservatives caved in on the New Deal. It seemed impossible to repeal.

Some hardcore conservatives, such as Jack Kemp, were still calling for the repeal of social security in the 1970s.

Then in the early 1980s, Jack Kemp finally threw in the towel, saying that by now most Americans wanted social security, so he acknowledged that it was politically impossible to repeal.

Socialism: Socialism is an economic and political philosophy encompassing diverse economic and social systems characterized by social ownership of the means of production, as opposed to private ownership.
