I found out way back in the early 80's when I tripped over a power cord at the Auto Parts Store and unplugged the CPU. I hurriedly plugged it back in and promptly FRIED THE ENTIRE CPU !!!
This was a DATA GENERAL SYSTEM.
It was only running 1 Store, 4 Terminals and 2 Printers. A fixed 10mb HDD Platter and 1 removable 10mb HDD Platter, 2 8" Soft Floppy Disk Drives and I don't remember the Memory but it was stupidly low in size.
Good thing it was all insured.
I got sidetracked. I was going to Post: AreoFlop.
That is a great story.
I have a friend who was into computers way earlier than most. When we were moving his shop he had the parts to a computer he had bought from a church, as I recall. It had 2- 2 Meg hard drives with disks as big as record albums, attached to a 220 motor. He had the original receipt and again as I recall it was north of 300k, what a monster
