On the night of June 5, 1944, before the first wave stormed the beaches of Normandy, elite paratroopers from the 101st Airborne Division were already deep behind enemy lines. Their mission was critical: secure key crossroads, disrupt German defenses, and pave the way for the beach landings at dawn.
This video uncovers rare original footage and firsthand accounts from the paratroopers who landed near Marmion Farm, a vital objective just outside Carentan. What they encountered there was brutal, chaotic, and decisive. Facing fierce German resistance, the battle for Marmion Farm became one of the earliest and most dangerous engagements of D-Day.
Through restored archival film, maps, and testimony, this video brings you as close as possible to the experience of the first soldiers on the ground. These men weren’t storming the beaches—they were already fighting for their lives behind enemy lines.
