"Me and You and a dog named Boo" has always been one of my favorite songs. We all long for the freedom of the road sometimes, and this song very simply personifies that.
Another big hit of his that no one's mentioned yet that is one of my favorites is, "Don't Expect Me To Be Your Friend".

You’re right. “Me and You and a dog named Boo” was a gentle expression of freedom.
I think the dog was innocent. But in a moment of weakness, the other two were caught robbing an old hen.
Old MacDonald, he made us work
But then he paid us for what it was worth
Even that was gentle. The farmer turned out to be a nice guy.
