There's a wonderfully delightful Irish film from 1991 called The Committments, about a tiny Irish pub band struggling to make is as R&B musicians. I've watched it half a dozen times. It contains a few politically incorrect words, but little pasty Irish protagonists hero-worship Wilson Pickett. I think you can find it online.

That is a great film - saw it at the theater when it was new and since. The scene with the story about Elvis’s daddy puking in the horn was over the top.
