An 11-year-old girl from Connecticut has soared to new heights and put her name in the record books. Hiking is Madison Herrick and her dad Jordan's love language. "Dad's really fast, but I’m better,” Madison said.

For the past two years, she’s been hitting the highest heights in every contiguous state in the country.

“Mount Rainier, Wyoming, Gannett Peak, Utah Kings Peak," Madison listed. But she saved the last one for her home state, surrounded by first-time hikers, experts, and grandparents supporting safely from the bottom.

Kansas doesn’t need a cell phone tower.

Someone’s house roof would be enough.

I once had hopes of accomplishing this myself, but altitude sickness kept me from summiting Britton Hill in Florida.

I was from North Dakota. Stand on a beer can and you can see Kansas.

Did she climb the highest mountain in Minnesota? According to the Mankato Home Page, which some of you might remember from the early years of the Internet, that would be Mount Mankato, which, according to the site, is 18,000 feet high. The site also claimed that one of the biggest tourist attractions in Mankato is watching blue whales swimming in the Minnesota River.

Mount Frissell is in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. It’s the tallest mountain in Connecticut. Graylock is the tallest mountain in Massachusetts.

18K in MN? I lived at 7400ft in NM for a while. I remember early memes like ‘ground sloth with mange’ and ‘raggot the gerbil’ and ‘good luck mr Gorsky’ and Liquid Oxygen poured on a charcoalgrill’ but not anything related to MN.
