One of the traits most “true believers” of any ideology have is that when they are confronted with any data that suggests their views may have an error...

They will build an additional superstructure on top of their old beliefs to deal with the error...

Instead of using that as an opportunity to take a closer look at their views to find any logic holes.

Agreed. I’ve learned to steer clear of true believers and know-it-alls. What begins as a seemingly open exchange often turns nasty the moment you question their dogma. They’re not interested in dialogue—only in pushing their deeply held belief.
