Re: Piano Man
Spent some time in the Navy in the 70’s with a shipmate named Davy - needless to say, he hated that song

Sounds like they like Frijid Pink, Vanilla Fudge - with an organ.

I recently listened to this album and I thought it was pretty good.

That song was pretty bad.

I think the one on the right is Billy Joel. Or Inigo Montoya. It's hard to tell.

I'd take it over Piano Man any day.

I just listened to Wonder Woman again. I love the idea that it’s just keyboards and drums and yet still has a heavy hard rock sound. When I first heard Atila I never knew who the vocalist was and thought maybe that’s why they never made it big before learning it was Billy Joel singing... oooof

Would be cool to hear Billy Joel do some of his solo greatest hits in this style with just keyboards through a Marshall stack and drums. Just blown away this music is still rocking with no bass player out guitars.

Note when he performs it’s like 20-30 musicians on stage. I like the 2 piece format that kicks ass. It’s raw.

Holy carp.
What a mashup.
I also got some Uriah Heep and The Guess Who feels in there.
Can’t say I’m really bonkers for the song but Joel’s barbarian look was pretty cool.
(I can stand it better than Alice Coopers “ Spiders” band thankfully short lived era)
/wanders off to sooth sudden Uriah Heep nostalgia

Nothing says “I’m so bad I scare myself” like posing with raw meat.

This isn't far removed from what some bands sounded like in the late 60s or early 70s. I just listened to Deep Ourple's Book of Talesyn and the Atila stuff I'd kind of similar. Heck any Deep Purple from the first 2 albums are kind of like this. I love it!

This is better than what I was expecting; it’s more difficult for a keyboard to ‘carry’ a hard rock song than for a guitar, and I have to respect the effort. By contrast, as an exception, Keith Emerson had the rare talent to be able to somewhat pull it off on some of ELP’s borderline hard stuff, though he did have plenty of assistance from Greg Lake.
