The story I remember was that Trump, in order to quickly secure a majority for the Republican nomination, made a deal with GOPE that he would pick Pence and several cabinet members of their choosing.
That’s true but what I am referring to was a plan between Pence and Ryan in Oct 2016 to undercut Trump related to the Access Hollywood tape to push him out and have a Pence/Ryan ticket going into November
