Watching leftists endlessly promote the same catastrophic policies is tiresome. Some quotations come to mind:

Since so many of the worst cities in America are run by Democrats, one would think that their voters would eventually catch on. Those who do and are able, move away. Some take their failed ideas with them and, like cancer cells, infect their new environs with the same diseased ideas that caused them to flee. The phrase, "Once bitten, twice shy eludes them, as does the old definition of insanity.

At one time, our schools taught actual history. Since Howard Zinn's books have hit the market, we're now seeing entire generations of Americans who can't find China on a map, don't know who America fought in World War II, and can't name the three branches of our government.

Throughout history, people have gained great power by making promises to the poorly-educated and instead brought only misery and oppression. The same policies promoted by today's Left have resulted in hundreds of millions of deaths worldwide. Some died from famine and disease, others were slaughtered by their own government.

The Soviet Union's economy was characterized by central planning, where state-controlled production, distribution, and prices, leading to inefficiencies and shortages. Agriculture was collectivized, resulting in significant declines in agricultural productivity, contributing to famines. The Bolsheviks murdered Russian citizens on a scale never before seen.

In China, Mao initiated the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, which were aimed at rapid industrialization and ideological purity

Some time ago we considered the proposition that one's destiny for becoming a conservative or a leftist can be predicted by one's position about the essential goodness of man.

Leftists tend to believe that man is essentially good while conservatives, I'm afraid, take the pessimistic view that man is essentially wicked.

The conservative position is essentially the Pauline description of the nature of man in which he says that "the human heart is wicked beyond all things, who can know?" So the conservative says that man in his natural state is in need of salvation.

The leftists, to the contrary, believes that man is essentially good and is in need only of education and enlightened guidance.

But in the application of these principles we get results that are the opposite of reasonable expectations: the conservative grants to man dignity of his own sovereignty, that is, the right to make his own way in liberty.

The leftist on the other hand, speaks of education but in practice constrains man and deprives him of freedom of choice.

I believe the explanation for this apparent anomaly is that the conservative is inclined to let man suffer the consequences of his choices but the leftist, oddly, invariably seeks ways to excuse the

sinner from his folly. Thus the leftist is preoccupied with the symptoms of the disease he has created and yet only seeks ever more and more to find ways of dealing with the symptoms.

Thus, the subject of leftist indoctrination (they call it education) has been tutored in such a way that his own liberty (license) renders him incapable of attaining individual sovereignty because he becomes a prisoner of his own symptoms and the belief that he has the independent power necessary prevail.

The man who accepts his own fallen nature and his incapacity to overcome it without spiritual aid, is at least open to renewal.

They learn3d alright- Obama taught them that the msm has their back, the fbi, cops, courts social media etc etc etc all work to protect them and allow them to get away with their nonsense. Before Obama came along, liberals at least tried to hide their contempt for America somewhat- and tried to deny supporting criminals and illegals etc. Obama came along and showed them that they need not fear being scumbags because the media would protect them, as well as the other agencies listed. That is the ti e that their asinine nonsense really took off full steam.

Is America fed up with their nonsense? We’ll see next election, even the midterms will indicate if they are or not. Over the years I’ve noticed that voters have short memories and want “change” too often just for the date of being different- and the new “Gimmedat” society we have will rally whenever they get promised “free thjngs” from the government.

One woman was asked why she voted for Obama, she replied with poop eating grin “so I can git me sum of Dat obama-money”

Agreed, but I have a theory that goes deeper. They can not accept that anything they believe to be true, abortion isn’t murder, no difference between men and women….. is not. To do so even on one small “belief “ would open them up to the possibility that other close held beliefs may also not be true. So they don’t and the won’t.

I think you have a point. I believe it's also intellectually lazy to just trust the "experts" and certainly no courage is required to just accept it without challenging it. IMHO, the left has won over compliance when it has reached the point that Orwell called "doublethink". Things like adamantly believing that all women are sexual assault victims because all men are rapists waiting to happen...while also believing that women and girls should be forced to share locker rooms and restrooms with men.

The leftist voters just accept these either in their own minds as "independent thinkers" that they've been taught they are for going with the status quo, or they know these things can't be true but are afraid to say as such.

If by "learn" the author means learn from history, that turns out to be impossible for people with such a determination to rewrite history to suit themselves. As Theodore Dalrymple put it, "We prefer our worldview to the world itself."

When you hear their philosophers and academics (and their journalists) solemnly proclaiming that there is no truth, only narrative, that's a genuine problem. Truth and lies become simply different points of view. That this sort of nihilism results in bridges being constructed of cardboard because their worldview holds that it's just as strong as steel is forgotten, and the resulting collapse is simply someone else's fault. It is not part of the new narrative, and neither are the victims of folly.

They have throughout history to great effect and hundreds of millions have been killed by their evil dogma. The democrats are no different in stirring up irrational hatred to stay in power. It’s not that the democrat politicians have turned their cities in to feces covered drug dens. It’s that tax cut. Housing isn’t unaffordable because the democrats imported millions of illegal aliens and stuck them in all the open houses, it’s those evil republicans who didn’t agree to a “comprehensive immigration reform.” Prices aren’t high because democrats regulate everything, it’s those greedy CEOs.
