The worst examples:

"This included instances of staff practically running over toddlers who were racing around the garden, children climbing trees as their parents encouraged them, throwing rocks, and even one situation where the parent of a potty-training toddler pulled out a travel toilet to use in front of other patrons.

'Simply put, we are a brewery. Our business is to serve great beer, food, and other alcoholic beverages to ADULTS,' Demagall explained in a statement."

I'd start by asking you all "who brings a kid to a bar but I already know the answer to that.

It's the next one that really gets me. "one situation where the parent of a potty-training toddler pulled out a travel toilet to use in front of other patrons" Freepers who does this? Really who does this? Who lugs a travel toilet for their toddler then teaches the kid to use it in the middle of a restaurant? This is how parents potty train their kids these days?

I’ve witnessed a mother CHANGE A DIAPER on top of an empty table next to hers!

I’m curious to see which side of this debate Freepers come down on.

I was in Burlington VT a couple of weeks ago. I was stunned at the number of “craft” breweries. On one street there were three different ones; two next to each other and one across the street.

I like beer as much as the next guy. But I cannot imagine that these places are going to stay in business in such a small, concentrated market.

Or am I missing that these are just taking the place of the small restaurants that used to populate the world?

I live in a town of 30,000 people. There are three in my town. How are these people getting bank loans?

What idiots those parents are! The breweries are right to do this!

Children are welcome at the brewery I patronize - it’s a small town in northern Idaho. They can’t sit at the bar. There are soft drinks for them and a table full of board games, which mostly they play with their parents. There’s a garden outside where dogs are welcome as well. Lovely place and I have seen NO instances of bad behavior. I don’t think you’d find that in a city, more’s the pity, but that’s why I don’t live in one.

Bratty kids became parents of bratty kids, and now want it both ways

“as during their kid-free days.”

Sorry, your poorly raised bratty kid isn’t cute or funny.
Just annoying and a reflection of your crappy character.

Don’t crap the pool for everybody else.
Keep your brats home.

The percentage of parents who simply have no idea how to “parent” is amazing. It’s not a new problem — we see the repercussions right now in young adults who were not raised well, but the problem is going to be worse in 20 years when the current batch of young kids become adults.

Out. Stay out. And they should put a dress code on

Out of business class too

People who pay attention to their kids all day, emotional support, helping them through all aspects of school, feed them, get them to the ortho contest etc to get them to successful adulthood need a re charge. More than anyone.
No one can do a proper job at anything if they try to do it 24/7

So this idea will absolutely take shape

There is such a place in our hometown. Many parents think nothing of bringing their kids with them to drink. Reminds me of those old pictures of the gin plague in England in the past.

I’m curious to see which side of this debate Freepers come down on.

The brew-pubs near me mostly encourage families with kids to come. Then again, folks in my neighborhood take responsibility for their children and behave themselves.

On the other hand, I could imagine brew-pubs in some parts of town attracting trashy elements.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution here.

No shirt, no shoes, no kids, no service.

I don’t have a problem with that.

Although I’ve never been to what is called a craft brewery.

Back in the day, places serving adult beverages were pretty much limited to adults.

I would also say it would appear to be an issue decided by the free market.

Some ban kids, some don’t.

It comes down to behavior. If too many people can’t behave themselves, it’s up to the proprietor to establish rules to curb the bad behavior in their establishment.

If kids won’t behave and their parents won’t control them, I’m all for age restrictions to keep them out.

If you need to spend time in a bar while raising kids, you’re not much of a parent.

Sounds like those “parents” need some parenting!

Amazing how often inconsiderate, irresponsible morons ruin it for everyone.

In my eyes there is a difference between a restaurant that serves liquor to adults who request it and a bar that serves food aka a craft brewery.

One business concentrates on food and the other business is built around the liquor that it brews on site. I see the point of the business owners who believe their facilities are not conducive to serving families.
