Re: 37 - Good grief, grow up.
Both can be morally wrong.
But because abortion is now up to the states, it somehow makes animal cruelty okay.
Pathetic reasoning.
Do better.
Yes, he may have shown his ugly nature toward his coworkers. Something like this isn’t a one=off.
There are good cops and there are bad cops. They are not all hardened and cynical.
That's a possible explanation. But speculative at best.
In my ornithology research I sometimes come across American Robin nestlings on the ground. Newly fledged American Robins are not capable of sustained level flight for 1-2 days. I wouldn't consider killing it if I did not hear or see an adult Robin nearby. You just leave the fledged Robin in place and move along.
Which is what this LEO should have done with the rabbit.
Well, life is about choices. He's ruined his career in law enforcement for... a young rabbit?
Discussing one vile act doesn’t preclude you from addressing another vile act.
You had me at threatened his fellow deputy with a stun gun.
Probably good that this incident occurred to weed out this guy. Better a dead rabbit than a dead person. But it’s sad that this idiot was even hired.
“”””I work with and around cops a lot and the rule is they are compassionate and reasonable. The bad cops are the exception.
Don’t judge the whole by certain exceptions.””””
People know that there is a lot of criminality, bribes, robbery, framing people, and corruption among police, but what is revealing is how the supposed good police never bust them or report them, or even make anonymous revelations about what they see.
For a person to be good, they have to be it, live it, do it, being passive and not getting involved is not being good.
Police even have criminal codes with “the blue wall”.
“It is a prerequisite to be able to even do the job...”
Now you just slurred all the people who are not like this.
But this man needs to be out of this job permanently. The bunny is bad enough, but he’s also a threat to his fellows.
He needs a psych eval stat.
“That’s a huge mistake.”
Yes, that’s right.
Maybe, The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch was unavailable.
Now to be fair I have to share that it is actually pretty common in humans period. All humans have a certain degree of sadistic tendencies towards other humans. But it is amplified in Law Enforcement because you just cannot be “soft” in any way to do the job in the first place. You can never feel sorry for an enemy combatant during war.
Combatant? War? You bet... Every civilian interaction starts with the civilian being guilty, armed, and dangerous. Every initial interaction, and compassion has absolutely no place in this or it could get them killed. Unfortunately like working in a slaughterhouse it is just a mental part of the reality of the profession. It takes a special kind of personality to be an officer.
Agreed.
How can you face the threat of death every day without it affecting you?
We should pray for our police. They’re doing God’s work to keep the peace and protect the community.
“Now you just slurred all the people who are not like this.”
And those who are not like this are just as guilty because they do nothing to stop those who are like this. They know who they are, they see it, but they do nothing because of the brotherhood bylaws. I have seen it too many times. I have seen it when I was personally wronged by LE several times.
It's New Mexico. He could have family dating back over 400 years, or not. Just depends.
So it’s acceptable for people to act like animals?
There’s got to some more merciful way to deal with an animal.
AND, the part that makes it worse, is the way he laughed about it and made a big joke of it. THAT is a indicator that there is something wrong with a person’s moral character.
“You just leave the fledged Robin in place and move along.
Which is what this LEO should have done with the rabbit.”
I am rural myself and grew up on a ranch. Hunting, Butchering, putting down Horses or even Dogs when needed and justified.
But what you propose is exactly right. We have found many baby critters over the years like this. If they had not “touched it” with human scent and just left it alone the mother would have come back and got it to move it or just continued to raise it in place after they were gone. Or it would have become part of the natural food chain as nature intended.
THANK YOU!!!
You are exactly right.
