Moscow airports in chaos after fourth night of Ukraine drone strikes on city

Vladimir Putin has been left humiliated after Ukrainian drones penetrated Russian air defences for the fourth successive day.

Moscow and the surrounding regions were under siege as Ukrainian forces unleashed more than 100 aircraft, targeting multiple buildings in the early hours of this morning.

Footage circulating on Russian pro-war Telegram channels shows several explosions leaving homes shaking and windows shattered.

Chaos also engulfed four of the capital’s airports – Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovskiy – with as many as 134 flights having to be redirected.

By 10am local time, only two remained closed to air traffic – Vnukovo in the Moscow region and Grabtsevo in the Kaluga region.

The restrictions are necessary for ensuring the safety of civil aircraft flights,’ announced Russia’s Federal Air Transport Agency.

Frustrated passengers – including tourists on summer vacations – were hit by delays, diverted flights and numerous cancellations in an apparent new tactic by Ukraine to paralyse air travel in Moscow.

Russia reported 93 Ukrainian drones being downed overnight, including 19 over the approaches to the capital.

Mayor Sergey Sobyanin claimed that Russian air defences shot down at least 16 drones heading toward the city.

In Kaluga region, residents also reported hearing loud drone flyovers and claimed that air defense systems were activated.

As is typical, Russian authorities have not released any official information on the targets or extent of the damage.

The V-1 was basically a flying bomb, which had max speed of about 400 mph.

It could be hit with AA, and the a later Spitfire super marines and P-51s could, potentially, chase a V-1 and there are stories about them being rammed or shot-down.

The V-1 had a very short range, and quickly lost its launch sites after the allies advanced after D-day, so while effective in hitting the UK (US estimated the V-1 caused more destruction than the entire “Blitz” - it wasn’t effective after August 1944.

The V-2 was completely different. It was supersonic, and was the world’s first ballistic missile as it traveled into space. There was no defense against it. The Royal Air Force investigated blanketing areas of the sky where a V-2 was expected to travel, but such an attempt would have needed so many shells, with a percentage of unexploded AA ordnance falling on the ground causing even more destruction, so the idea was shelved.

The best option was to allow P-51s to strafe suspected V-2 sites in Germany, as the P-51 had excellent range and total air superiority by the time the V-2 was fully operational.

Actually, the Brit’s benefitted from proximity fuzes (VT) that America finally revealed their existence and they put them into immediate use. That and Hawker Typhoons that were fast enough to catch up with the V1s and “tip” them into an uncontrollable dive.

V-2 sites were mobile; unless you caught them in the act of preparing to launch, they were impossible to detect. The only of stopping the V-2s was by invading and beating Germany.
Over 1500 V-2s were launched against Brussels and Antwerp.

The conman, grifter zelensky really wants peace.... continuing to attack putin..., while gaslighting everyone into thinking he’s the good guy

Except only the most gullible and naive fall for his little act.

Zelensky and Putin are both rotten to the core and lying is part of their culture.

That’s why it’s hard to negotiate a peace deal. Truth and honor and not important to those people. If anything, they consider them signs of weakness.

WIKI

Following is the process a PAC-3 firing battery uses to engage a single tactical ballistic missile with two PAC-3 missiles:

A missile is detected by the AN/MPQ-65 radar. The radar reviews the speed, altitude, behavior, and radar cross-section of the target. If this data lines up with the discrimination parameters set into the system, the missile is presented on the screen of the operator as a ballistic missile target.

In the AN/MSQ-104 Engagement Control Station, the TCO reviews the speed, altitude, and trajectory of the track and then authorizes engagement. Upon authorizing engagement, the TCO instructs his TCA to bring the system’s launchers into “operate” mode from “standby” mode. The engagement will take place automatically at the moment the computer defines the parameters that ensure the highest probability of kill.

The system computer determines which of the battery’s launchers have the highest probability of kill and selects them to fire. Two missiles are launched 4.2 seconds apart in a “ripple”.

The AN/MPQ-65 radar continues tracking the target and uploads intercept information to the PAC-3 missiles which are now outbound to intercept.

Upon reaching its terminal homing phase, the Ka band active radar seeker in the nose of the PAC-3 missile acquires the inbound ballistic missile. This radar selects the radar return most likely to be the warhead of the incoming missile and directs the interceptor towards it.

The ACMs (attitude control motors) of the PAC-3 missile fire to precisely align the missile on the interception trajectory.

The interceptor flies straight through the warhead of the inbound ballistic missile, detonating it and destroying the missile.

The second missile locates any debris which may be a warhead and attacks in a similar manner.

“That’s why it’s hard to negotiate a peace deal.”

Ask each side to put their all demands in writing. No time-wasting haggling, just typing.

Then ask each side to criticize the other’s demands and offer up alternatives if they can. Neutral parties might also offer up alternatives.

At this point, the makings for a deal will be almost totally available.

For example:

“Trump offered that deal to Putin who rejected it, demanding Ukraine must also disarm, de-nazify(De-Ukrainianize), and put Russian language on same level as Ukrainian. Its a demand for a complete surrender leaving Ukraine completely defenseless.”

“put Russian language on same level as Ukrainian”

In Canada, French and English are equal.

In the EU, French and German are equal.

“Ukraine must also disarm”

absurd demand

“de-nazify”

Germany doesn’t permit Nazi stuff.

“leaving Ukraine completely defenseless”

absurd demand

Since Russia wants a Ukraine that’s neutral, not a part of NATO and has no foreign forces in the territory under its control, Ukraine must have all the defensive means it wishes:
1. domestic defenders without numerical limit
2. tanks, guns, artillery pieces and their ammo without numerical limit
3. anti-tank weapons without limit
4. tactical missiles and drones without numerical limit

Wow. You’re not serious, are you?

Things - and technologies - have improved just a little bit since 1944, don’t you suspect?

You are correct on all points but I never heard of a Spitfire pilot ramming one. That would be suicide.

Thanks.

Yes, I doubt a Spitfire ever rammed a V-1. I couldn’t remember any details.

Just did a google search and found this, which seems far more likely

There was no good way to down a V-1 unless you did it over water. If you shot at it, you risk getting blown up. If you tipped it, it was going to hit somewhere.

Expect the further leveling of Ukraine, it already looks like a lunar landscape.

Why does Ukraine ( and the West) still pursue suicide?

Right, Ukraine should completely stop fighting while it is being invaded. Seriously?

Ukraine agree to the US plan of a total 30 day ceasefire, Putin rejected it.

There is a reason Trump said “We get a lot of bullshit thrown at us by Putin, [if] you want to know the truth,” Trump said. “He’s very nice all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.”
