My mom was furious with my dad because he went to Sears and put a color tv on their credit card just so he could watch this historic event in color...those that remember...it was mostly black and white on film....lol
I was a teenager and our whole family was glued to the tv for it all...and we ended up loving the new tv.

July 20th and the Moon. All of us were following Apollo 11—who could miss it. Humanity was going to the Moon! What an achievement. We had Tang! The drink that the Astronauts drank ™ We had those tubes of sugary protein in foil, sort of like a licorice stick in choclate and peanut butter...Again, something the astronauts ate in space...
It all so new, wonderful and ... thrilling...anything was possible.

Looking back, it was all just an expensive stunt.
Years later Walter Cronkite was asked and said he considered the Moon landing to be the most important historical event of his lifetime.
Notice he was gone before the Taylor Swift Eras tour.
I was thinking something entirely different. When I was about 25 around 1975, I was on my way to work when a school bus loaded with cheer leaders entered the road and was in front of me. All of the cheer leaders in the back of the bus mooned me. What an unforgettable sight, I almost ran off the road. I tried to get on the road at the same time, but never saw the bus again. Pity.
I always got the impression that he was hoping it would crash.
