The one whom I despise is Diana Rehm. With her cracky voice, and slow manner, she wants to come across as mild, moderate, reasonable.
But, two instances:
The first was when she pretty much lost it when she had on a male guest who was promoting chastity, and no sex outside of marriage. She was vicious to her, when he wouldn't back down , and woulodn't lose his cool. She got MEAN. I thought . . . THAT's her trigger? Ugh.
The second time was when she was interviewing some scientist talking about towing icebergs to the Middle East for a fresh water supply. She had a Hank Johnson/Maxine Waters moment, asking if we might run out of fresh water if the Middle Easterners use it up? He rightly got condescending and said he would have to review 8th grade Science Class and describe the water cycle.
I have a soft spot for Terry Gross. One time, she had these British ladies from "What Not to Wear" on. They flipped the script on her, when she told them she didn[t like to wear skirts or dresses. When Terry stated she didn't like the way they made her feel, they asked her why she was afraid of her own femininity. They had her on the defensive, and of course were skilled at British cheekiness. A good radio moment/
When the topic isn't political, she's a damn good interviewer.
