Happening in society and now happening in sports.
“...now happening in sports.”
So how long is the “spectator” going to lose the sport to business? I was a multi sports fan since my early childhood where I competed and officiated/coached all the way into my 50’s and I have almost discontinued watching sports altogether. It has been so artificially changed into money from sport that there’s no teamwork, team recognition, not a single real thing to use to teach youth responsibility and honesty and integrity. Sports in no longer entertainment. It is business. I can watch the dows and get the same thing. A once pure after school desire is now gone replaced with participation awards and no wish to succeed except the big money which less than 1% of the world ever gets from USA pro sports. So it needs to be in perspective and that ain’t happening.
Oh, we don’t have to allow it. Baseball and hockey both cut back on the violence. Football and basketball could. But don’t hold your breath until the fans drift away and the TV sponsors withdraw. They may have to relearn how to play the game and that will start at the youth contests. And probably 15 years till the changes will be noticed.
