Wasnt he the one they called “The Fridge”? Wow, talk about a blast from the past! He was in a few movies too. Has certainly loved a full life. May he have many more years to enjoy. Neat person.
What a life he led! I didn’t even know about him being the one who grabbed Sirhan Sirhan.
I still remember when my music teacher had us listen to this:

Edward George Listopad (born August 28, 1929) is an American former professional football guard who played for the Chicago Cardinals.
often saw him play on tv as a kid in so cal. the Rams were on a lot. he was certainly fearsome as a player, but i never knew he became a Republican and supported the great RR. that’s unusual for a black man of that era. he was well known as a Christian man, which is why he stopped the violence that night. ‘Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the sons of God.’ thanks for the post.
His memorable appearances as "Salathiel Harms" in some episodes of "Kojak" also deserve mention.
Regards,
IIRC, Rosie visited OJ in jail after being arrested for the two murders. Rosie came away very upset and supposedly he and OJ had some heated words. Speculation was that OJ may have admitted the killings to him.
I was a Rams fan way back then. I remember Rosey as part of the Rams Fearsome Foursome defensive line along with Deacon Jones, Merlin Olsen, and Lamar Lundy and later Coy Bacon.
All those LA guys had some acting roles too. Merlin Olsen was also noteworthy as an actor. Even their QB, Roman Gabriel co-starred with John Wayne in The Undefeated.
Star of the best mini-bike chase in movie history (”Man with Two Heads”).
My mother, grandmother and sister were on a flight from CA to MI in early ‘69 and Rosey Greer was also a passenger. As the story goes, everyone on the plane knew who he was and what he had done in LA in April ‘68. People were clapping, etc. He was their local hero for the duration.
I didn’t know about his role in subduing Sirhan Sirhan.
Yeah, when an NFL Defensive Tackle gets his big meaty paws on you, you’re done.
I did not know he was still alive. I remember him well.
God bless him. Living to age 94 ain’t no joke.
