Well, a few weeks later this same guy sent me a text message asking if I'd ever heard of Suno; a "music writing program." I told him I had and I did not patronize it nor would I work with anyone who did.
Lo and behold, a week later, I got a heads up from someone that this guy's wife's "song" had been posted to YouTube. Sure enough, it was some lame-ass, AI generated Suno slop.
Ugh.
Fact: 50,000 songs are released on Apple Music and Spotify every day. Ten thousand of them are AI generated.
So, the slim chance actual musicians have to break out or build a following has been made even slimmer by those with thin or no musical talent who type prompts into programs like Suno and hit "Generate song."
It's all part of the encroaching, Brave New Globohomo World, where "sameness" is the goal and human creativity is reduced to a few clicks of a mouse or a few words blurted into a smart phone.
