An Australian small business owner says she lost about $50,000 after Instagram suspended her accounts over what she describes as an innocent photo of three dogs.
Rochelle Marinato, managing director at Pilates World Australia, recently received an email from Instagram's parent company Meta stating her accounts had been suspended because the image breached community guidelines relating to 'child sexual exploitation, abuse and nudity'.
The photo had been mistakenly flagged by an AI moderator which confused the image of the dogs with those of children.
'I spent three weeks researching how to get my account back. In that time our revenue dropped by 75 per cent,' she said.

IMO AI is no different than a human student. Students learn what’s put in front of them and what they are given access to.
I often ask Google’s AI questions. When asked a political question, it gives politically slanted answers. This is to be expected from Google, which affirms my thoughts above.
And there are fools that want to put some of our national defense assets into the hands of AI. They need to watch the movie War Games.
Don’t use that one. Been seeing a lot of problems with it.
Indeed.
“I never violated the terms of service.”
I’ve been banned from posting reviews on Amazon. No reason. Just reviews that violated Amazon’s terms of service. No warning. No appeal - you can send as many emails as you want but no one ever gets a response.
My reviews? About 3-4 times a year, I’d review a book, usually one on history. I did once write that a best-selling mystery had an utterly ridiculous plot. Over the years, I had also posted a couple of reviews on Seiko watches I had bought - all good reviews.
My last review before being banned was a positive review of a Citizen dive watch. 2 weeks later, banned from making reviews.
Utterly bogus, but there is no appeal and there was no warning. I still use Amazon all the time but their computers obviously twisted something beyond reason.
Many years ago, I was suspended from Facebook. They said they'd reinstate me if I sent copies of my drivers license, passport, or some other documents. I didn't bother. I never regretted it.
The one in the middle has a great butt
I call BS on this story.
I don’t buy it for a moment. Somebody sabotaged her account with the intention to get it shut down. AI my patootie.
Can you imagine what that mod's kids look like???
A pic of Horizontal, Cankles and the Mooch. Pull it.
There was a show on Amazon called Catastrophe, about a British woman in London who got pregnant by an American tourist. It was all about how they tried to make it work. They had a lot of sex scenes and the man was verbally abusive to the woman and I wrote a review about it. They would not post my review because I described their show accurately.
The META god has spoken so all fall down and worship.
1st thought was that this had to be a joke.
But, it involved Facebook, so yeah, fer real.
Howabout asking the AI what their children would look like?
I had a post on Facebook flagged as hate speech once. It was a check-in at a courthouse.
Then again...
Hmm. Can AI be sued for libel and slander? To accuse someone of that is a serious offense.
confused the image of the dogs with those of children.
= = =
What kind of children?
Furry, colored children?
Racists!
no dissent
robots rule
The classic sci-fi movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was a distorted version of the original story "Farewell to the Master" after it was infused with Hollywood leftist idiocy. The whole point of the story was exactly what you posted, the robot was the master and the human was the subject. In the movie, those roles were reversed for political reasons.
That's exactly where we are headed right now with AI.
I was researching the claims of some articles recently and I asked a rather lengthy question of the Perplexity Pro AI, which is currently my favorite. In the question, I referenced several recent events in the news for the AI to consider in its response:
I challenged the AI that they actually did happen and it then confirmed that they were indeed true events. It couldn't give me a good explanation as to why it missed those facts the first time around.
