I encountered a raccoon dog, out west. Size of a full grown German Shepherd, but a bit longer. Unlike other animals, it just stared for a bit and then slowly went away.

The common raccoon dog, also called the Chinese or Asian raccoon dog to distinguish it from the Japanese raccoon dog, is a heavy-set, fox-like canid native to East Asia. Named for its raccoon-like face markings, it is most closely related to foxes. Wikipedia
Mass: 13 lbs (Male, In Spring), 12 lbs (Female, In Fall)
