We tried the war on drugs. Turns out we hit the wall of supply and demand, and we learned that the drug suppliers are clever, and police and politicians can be bought.
We have tried helping the druggies. Turns out they don’t want the help, and when we try to give them a nice place to stay, they destroy it.
Solomon noticed this 3000 years ago. For all his wealth and power, he could not fix the problem of the beggar begging on the street and the crooked politician.
The sad fact is, that druggie you see lying like rubbish on the sidewalk will probably be dead soon, and all efforts to prevent that are for naught. Jesus is the only way.
A war on drugs always misses one critical element. Banks who serve that massive industry. When banks are raided or seized just like a street level dealer, I’ll know they are serious.
The trick for the homeless problem is what nobody has tried yet....encampments far away from civilization.
In places like CA that would mean encampments far out in the desert with bare minimum amenities.
If they want to destroy themselves that is fine.
Keep them far away from civilization.
