In Switzerland you need GOVERNMENT PERMISSION to buy an air conditioner. (meanwhile, Egyptians are now buying them by the millions). I suspect it’s similar in other European countries.

I agree. I grew up without AC and our college housing often didn’t have AC. I am almost 75 and a heart attack survivor. I need AC. When I was young the heat and cold didn’t bother me.
I saw a claim recently that more Europeans die every year from heat stroke from lack of air conditioning than US citizens die from murder using guns.
Oddly cold kills many more than heat in Europe. Many elederly can not afford the clean energy electricity and die of hypothermia trying to save money on their electric bill. Clean energy kills!
