Thanks for your input. It isn't black magic because the people I know who worked with certificate generation and installation generally disliked it, but seemed to understand it well enough most of the time to get the things installed correctly.

I am always reminded of that Arthur C. Clarke quote: “Any Sufficiently Advanced Technology Is Indistinguishable From Magic”

Watching them solve problems associated to certificates sometimes brought this quote to mind, especially when they were stumped by a problem...
