There is a bit of fear porn in this article. The fact is that there is a solid, somewhat conservative majority on the court. The court is undoing a lot of bad liberal jurisprudence. Could it be better? Sure. But its as good as it has been in a long time. This is a time to celebrate and use the court to achieve conservative aims. Not worry about what happens if Liberals take a 6-3 majority.
It feels like much of this has a little bit of luck to it. No one knows when a Justice may leave this Earth unexpectedly. I don't think there's a way to synch up the Executive branch's tendency with SCOTUS cases. The best you can do is hope to "push" out older Justices when you have the White House and Senate, and nominate younger Justices that will hopefully stay awhile.
Case in point, I would expect that Clarence Thomas will retire and a new nominee to be named well ahead of the mid-terms in 2026.
