Thank goodness!
About time!
How about in a year or two or three when the AI videos are indistinguishable from recorded video?
I keep hearing the same AI narrator in many different videos. That voice annoys the heck out of me.
“… you have people who will type two words and from those words produce a 15 minute video from AI”
They do that with normal recorded content, too. A video that should be two or three minutes tops clocks in at 20 minutes.
The good thing though is that IF an ai video looks like it —might have— imprimatur content/info, you can copy the url, run it through Notebooklm , and it will summarize the whole video for you in about 4 seconds, giving you the relevant info in short form
So ai can be useful too lol
You can even get browser add-ons to summarize videos for you too- so you don’t have to sit through 20 minutes of crap to get to the 1 or 2 relevant points of the video.
This could cause huge problems for people running so-called faceless accounts, who don’t want to appear on camera, but rather do legitimate voiceovers for newsworthy or historic events.
The reason there are so many 20 minute videos that could be 3 minutes, is that YouTube rewards longer videos for monetization, because they can run more ads.
The sci fi audio stories can be weird with many of them featuring Dr Sara Chen over and over and the numbers 17 and 47 are frequently used...place names like New geneva. Repeted uses of names for alien scurges like the Zoraxian fleet and weapons like quantum reality anchors...ect. Many repeat stories about how Earth plays like we are primitive deathworlders all divided against each other and about to get pounded by the Galactic hegemony for being...well human and upstart until we pull out our aces and reveal we of Earth have been secretly thru dark projects developing weapons that vastly outclasses the rest of the galaxy by thousands of years...all the while playing coy miss innocence...telling our defeated foes...well bless your hearts...we told you not to come here...now we’re just gonna have to take over your little old galaxy and fix things...and oh yes free all the slave worlds while we are at it.
There is one string of AI stories that use a british sounding narrator and the diction and the words are never mispronounce...funny as the dickens...usually depct a univerce run by tired bureaucrats with reports that have to be filed in triplicate and then stored in quatum back door filing drawers only to discover that Earth somehow gets lost in the mix and th chaotically funny ways that Earth ends up asserting itslef into galactic affairs...powered by coffee, spite, and adaptability! Those stories are hilarious, well edited and have a Douglass Adams Vibe to them!
This is a good thing. There are AI generators that can make videos in a few minutes and people are creating thousands and ads are then added by youtube and tiktok etc.
Youtube would be inundated with fake content.
#23 I hear what I thought was a AI voice in some military videos at youtube. A droning monotonous voice. It turns out is a human when seen on camera talking. He just had a droning monotonous voice. The videos would be far better with a different narrator.
.....”YouTube has exploded with AI generated content to a point where I am becoming reluctant to visit YouTube”........
I’m with you on that note....it’s a mess! ...I’m not willing to sort thru the junk.
How can you tell if the video is AI generated?
Videos show characteristics of a production done with a green screen.
Narration is a close match but not the person's current voice
Embedded images that normally would be quite time consuming to create are in abundance in a video dealing with a current topic.
Thumbnail images in which multiple public figures appear to be responding together in a way that matches the video title.
Here's an example, and it is just one of many created very quickly on the same channel.
