Professional sports and sports radio have created an unholy alliance with these gambling companies. This open association with gamblers will lead to corruption, loss of integrity to the game, loss of fans and will weaken the leagues and the radio stations
Yep, whether it's Vegas or the track, that $100 is expected to be lost in exchange for the entertainment value - it $100 is usually the max.
They also mention the fact that the gambling websites can assess from algorithms which gamblers are winning and they are allowed to cut down on their wagers.
The odds are always stacked.
Sports gambling should not be normalized, ala legal. It should be personal, and out of sight like it used to be. My brother, a sister and others are flat out funding Casinos and sports books. I liked it better when you had to travel to Reno or Vegas to gamble. It is an evil enterprise, with the chances of winning less than 30% at best, at worst just blind luck.
I have nothing against gambling playing poker, dice or other things in social settings with family and friends. Somebody you know actually does win. The Casinos are ran by organized crime, now they have a better publicist and commercials.
The House always wins.
Indian casinos are the houses that SS built. Go out there on SS payday, and watch “those who can’t live without it” throw it away.
They tax the bleep out of cigarettes, chew, nicotine lozenges and vapes “to protect adult”, and keep it away from children, but gambling is no farther away than a McDonalds in most States.
“ When I was young it was my understanding that gambling debts were unenforceable as being against public policy.”
Tell that to Vinny from my old Brooklyn neighborhood. You bet and lost, he made sure you paid.
We as maga supporters were under attack, and got so used to defending Trump, that most can’t see that we are now just like the Libtards.
We knee jerk protect our side, just like the left protected Biden, Obama, Clinton et al.
Not me, I call it like I see it.
I'm sure you do-gooders want to shut down the Isle of Man TT as well.
I do care how welfare and SNAP recipients spend their my money.
"Do gooder"? You say that like it's a bad thing.
Go listen to it.
Well, restricting welfare and SNAP recipients from legalized gambling is is something I might support, but I don't recall your original post saying that.
What I call a "do-gooder" is someone who inserts themselves into issues where they don't belong, as in "mind your own business".
